International Buddhist Conclave held at Varanasi

Conclave showcases India's rich Buddhist heritage to boost religious tourism.

Varanasi. A two day International Buddhist Conclave was held at Varanasi last week. The objective of the conclave was to showcase and project the Buddhist heritage of India.

The delegates at the conclave included, international Buddhist scholars, tour operators and media. More than 100 overseas guests from 30 countries also attended the conclave. The delegates were also taken for site visits to Bodh Gaya and Nalanda.

The conclave sessions focussed on Buddhism for scholars, and travel and tourism for the media and tour operators.

The International Buddhist Conclave in India was organised after a period of two years. The last conclave, organised in Nalanda, was in February 2010.
