Free education for select sports people

A new UGC scheme honours those who shine in the field of sports.

 

New Delhi.The University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched a scheme in 2012, called the 'Free Education for Sports Medal Winners/Participants of National/International events'. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to these medal winners/eminent sports persons who are studying in universities or colleges leading to full time regular courses, including Post Graduate Diploma and other professional courses. It's also done to motivate them to achieve higher levels of performance in higher education as well as in sports.
