Book highlighting Awadhi influence on India cinema released

A book portraying the influence of Lucknow culture was released in New Delhi today.


New Delhi., an organisation promoting art and culture, today organised a book release function for Dr. Muntazir Qaimi’s book 'Hindustani Filmon mein Tehzib-e-Awadh ki Akkasi' (Portrayal of Awadh culture in Indian films) at the Pragati Maidan.

The book release was followed by a special screening of Muzaffar Ali's Umrao Jaan. Mr Ali was also present on the occasion.

The programme was dedicated to the loving memory of Jnanpith Award winner and famous Urdu poet Shahryar. The poet passed away recently.

Speaking on the launch Mr Hanif Khan, the brain behind the project, said, "Tawajjo is committed to grooming art and artists. We aim to provide all creative people a respectable place in society in our own small way." is also aspiring to realise the creative potential of Delhi into mainstream cinema. The website officially announced the launch of their new initiative called Dollywood.

Mr Khan explained, "Dollywood is an extension of Indian cinema which will provide a stage to young cinematic talents. All areas of cinema, right from acting to directing, from scriptwriting to production are addressed here."
