A 16 year old schoolboy from Germany solves age old mathematical problem.

Shouryya Ray's family moved to Germany from Calcutta in India when he was 12. At 16 he has done what mathematicians failed to do for centuries.

Ray has solved two fundamental particle dynamics problems posed by Sir Isaac Newton over 350 years ago. His solution has now made possible to calculate not only the trajectory of a ball, but also predict how it hits and rebounds off the wall.

Ray owes his fascination with science to his father, an engineer working as a research assistant at the Technical University of Freiberg.
