Living up to huge Indian expectations, the duo of Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupati take the mixed doubles title at the French Open.

Paris. When the Mexican Santiago Gonzalez and Poland's Klaudia Jan-Ignacek entered the French Open tournament nobody took notice. They made the head turns after beating the No. 8 duo of Nadia Petrova and Daniel Nestor in the first round. Their dream run continued as they reach the final. And then they bumped into the Indian pair of Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupati.

The No. 7 seeds Sania and Mahesh defeated Santiago and Klaudia in straight sets to win the mixed doubles crown. The first set went to a tie-break which the Indians won 7-6. The second set was a one-sided affair, going 6-1 to Sania and Mahesh.

The Indian pair has previously won the Australian Open in 2009.
