SunEdison, a leading global solar technology manufacturer and provider of solar energy services, recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the 200-year-old engineering institution Anna University. SunEdison and Anna University plan to further the solar photovoltaic (PV) industry in the State of Tamil Nadu through building a curriculum that develops technical expertise and new technologies in the solar energy field.
“This industry-institution partnership will foster collaborative research activities in solar photovoltaic technology and sustainable solar irrigation solutions,” said Pashupathy Gopalan, President of SunEdison’s Asia Pacific division.
The Vice-Chancellor of Anna University, Chennai, Dr. M. Rajaram, explained that the memorandum outlines plans for Anna University and SunEdison to develop certification and training programs for the university’s Institute of Energy Studies. Additionally, Anna University and SunEdison will cooperate in the future to conduct research on sustainable, affordable and reliable energy systems and processes.
