'Sukham Ayu' judged the best health cookbook in the world

An Indian cookbook featuring vegetarian recipes with Ayurvedic insights wins at the Gourmand Awards in Paris.

Pune. Kare Ayurveda and Yoga Retreat’s (a boutique health and wellness resort in Pune) "Sukham Ayu" wins Best Health and Nutrition Book in the World- Second Place at Gourmand Awards 2009 held in Paris. The awards event was held on Feb 11, at theatre sale 400, at Le Cent Quarte in Paris. 136 countries participated in the competition and over 6000 books were received.

Gourmand means 'a lover of good food'. The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards were founded in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau, Spain at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Every year, the organisation receives thousands of cookbooks from across the globe from which the winner books are selected. These awards are considered as the Oscars for culinary publications.

Sukhan Ayu is an ode to the ancient science of Ayurveda. It features daily, simple, vegetarian recipes bound together by the fine thread of Ayurvedic insights, steering the reader towards a focus on freshly cooked food, and on the correct use of spices to enhance taste and good health.
